Misconduct in Academic Research - Case Files

Consists of records relating to misconduct in academic research. Records document complaints, investigations, advice and decisions rendered regarding misconduct both where found and where dismissed. Records may include correspondence, reports, the written allegation, investigation committee minutes, decision rendered.

Retention Rationale

The Office of the President has ultimate responsibility for these records in accordance with Article 11 of the YUFA collective agreement. However, while the investigation is ongoing, the records should be classified and maintained with this file class. Once the matter is concluded all records can be transferred to the Office of the President.


Filing Guidelines

The unit acting as the President's designate will send a final report of the matter to the Office of the President along with the working files. The Office of the President will maintain the records in accordance with ORMS. Records of the inquiry and investigation shall be retained by the Office of the President for no less than three years from the time of the finding of misconduct or dismissal of the allegation in accordance with the Senate Policy on Misconduct in Academic Research.
