Records containing personal information that are used by York University must be retained for one year in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 460, s. 5(1). As per the Office of the Vice-President Academic, records relating to non-degree students should be retained so that "at any future date a participant in a non-degree studies activity can be provided with a 'certificate' or note of attendance and where appropriate, a grade." http://vpacademic.yorku.ca/handbook/pol_proc/non-degree_studies.php
